Aleheimer’s and Dementia In-Home Care
Compassionate, effective, in-home care for Alzheimer’s and dementia patients.
As one of the leading causes of death in the U.S., Alzheimer’s disease affects over 5 million Americans, and that number continues to grow every day. And while some decline in mental health is quite common as we age, there are certain distinctions that must be made between these cases and the more serious Alzheimer’s or dementia cases.
For instance, a person with age-related memory loss will tend to forget a piece of an experience that they will often remember later, while a person suffering from Alzheimer’s disease will forget entire experiences and will rarely recall these events. A person with age-related memory loss will also retain their ability, for the most part, to follow directions, to write down and use reminders, and to take care of themselves—all qualities which will begin to decline in an Alzheimer’s patient.
With those suffering from dementia, loss of memory and reasoning capabilities are common, as well as general confusion and changes in behavior or mood, which may be caused by the frustration experienced when speech and movement become difficult. Because so much of the person with dementia’s life is changing, it is often common for them to have trouble adjusting to both work and home life.
